When the Bottle Runs Dry...

My moist cheeks fear to wake to loveless light.
I mourn to greet an empty bed despite,
This spiteful sprite whose spirit shows no strife,
Whose act detached my lover from my life.

It was the booze that seized my hand that night
And its glass bottle took away my wife.
